Evaluation of Turkish videos about breast self-examination on YouTube

Objectives: Breast self-examination (BSE) is very important to early detect breast cancer in women addition imaging methods. The easiest way access information concerning how perform this examination undoubtedly the internet, and most popular platform YouTube. However, disadvantage of massive risk spreading false since it cannot be audited. This study aimed evaluate Turkish videos on BSE YouTube terms quality content. Methods: On January 17, 2022, a search was conducted using keyword “breast self-examination”, first 210 presented five pages were obtained. After applying criteria, 156 included sample evaluated by two general surgeons educational value, content, upload source. Results: Of videos, 23 categorized as useful (14.7%) 133 misleading (85.3%). When examined according source group, universities/professional organizations/non-profit physicians/physicians had highest rate (96.9%), while stand-alone health websites (24%). There no significant difference between sources video length, number views, content score, or score. Conclusions: low. Our results indicate need for more produced, especially healthcare professionals who use platform.
